Matahiwi Estate Hawkes Bay Syrah2024
This juicy Syrah is packed with lifted aromas of violet, blueberry, pepper and toast.The palate is ripe and smooth with boysenberry and plum flavours, and a long luscious finish. Excellent with pasta , pizza and a range of red meats such as duck, venison, lamb and beef.
Vineyard
2024 was a great red wine vintage for Hawkes Bay with warm dry weather through the growing season. The fruit for this wine comes from old low yielding vines in the Bridge Pa triangle that consistently produce superb fruit.
Winemaking
The grapes were harvested and fermented on skins for 3 weeks with a gentle slow extraction of flavour and tannin. The wine was aged in barrels and tanks for 8 months to harmonise fruit and tannin before blending and bottling.
