The International Wine Challenge results have been announced this week and Holly has again been our star. Our Matahiwi ‘Holly’ Pinot Noir 2009 picked up a Silver medal. The judges tasting notes included a pungent strawberries and cream nose and noted the wine was ageing nicely with a cherry fruit mellow finish. Get in quick to order before we sell out!
Our Matahiwi ‘Holly’ Sauvignon Blanc 2011 also picked up a Bronze medal. The judges tasting notes picked up a creamy toasty oak style with good length and a complex savoury finish. We agree!
In its 30th year, the International Wine Challenge is accepted as the world’s finest and most meticulously judged competition. The IWC assesses every wine ‘blind’ and judges each for its faithfulness to style, region and vintage. Each medal winning wine is tasted on at least three separate occasions by a minimum of 10 different judges. Awards include medals (Gold, Silver, Bronze) and Commended awards.
